Aguirre is left alone, declaring himself ‘The Wrath of God’ and that he will marry his own daughter, going on to found a new pure dynasty in El Dorado.
Costumes and props are as real as possible(the subjects actually CARRY A CANNON THROUGH STEEP JUNGLE), so you fully sense the sweaty desperation and toil of these out of place, completely deluded would-be conquerors, who find themselves in peril of being subsumed by the jungle of which they have only just taken rightful possession.
