This movie is a fantasy about what might have happened if Elvis’s real life twin Jesse had lived and possibly been separated at birth. Even the mom and dad preacher suddenly are at concerts with smiles on their faces after two scenes before wanting to crucify him. While original to the movie, the songs were so familiar to the time period that we thought they were actually from that period. Despite the fact that the story is far-fetched, it starts out pretty good. And yet, the dedication to Elvis-like veracity doesn’t necessarily pay off. Judd is hardly doing heavy lifting here, but her portrayal of a loving mom is heartfelt and sweet, and it’s nice to see Liotta softening up a bit instead of doing one of his go-to mobster roles. And now I know Christian films are about as bad as Christian rock. The first was Carl ‘Cheesie’ Nelson who did his own versions of “That’s All Right, Mama” and “Blue Moon of Kentucky” and even sang with Elvis in 1954. And the Oscar should have gone to Ray Liotta for his acting in this movie. Rayne, who is an Elvis impersonator in real life, does okay for this first feature film and having Seth Green play his best friend was an inspired choice. In addition, as the characters age and the fashion styles start to look out of control, so does the story. The movie puts all its energy in Ryan’s character and we only see glimpses of his brother’s life.
We laughed so hard we had to rewind it a few times. You can still see all customer reviews for the product. It's a good story.
