She has a voice that’s instantly recognizable, with touches of Slytherin snark and Han Solo swagger. I loved how she got frustrated over people treating her as straight because, as we all know, straight is the norm – unfortunately. With prom and college on the horizon, tensions are running high.

Albertalli lets this be Leah’s story, but the supporting characters are all there in just the right amounts. An anomaly in her friend group, she’s the only child of a young, single mom, and her life is decidedly less privileged. It is still a journey of discovery, but Leah’s story is about how to express herself. The more I found out about Leah, the more I felt like she’s my fictional twin. Actually, high expectations might be an understatement.
I like how Leah was both proud of her body, but also self conscious, because that really does show the two sides of the coin (as a plus sized woman, myself, I can speak to this very feeling).

It’s sooo worth reading. A combination of characters we already know? Black-ish fans can now look forward to a season 7 that’s longer than we originally thought.

Genre: Young Adult – Contemporary It was great jumping back into the world of Creekwood and it was great getting a story from Leah’s perspective, while also still seeing Simon and Blue (even though they weren’t the main focus). This time next month, Supernatural will have finally said goodbye.
